Shape It, Sculpt It! & Amusement Park Science { one week }
Shape It, Sculpt It! ::: Step Right Up and Join the Circus
The circus is coming to town! Create a three-ring circus in the Camp Galileo art room. Build and decorate a circus wagon, create an Alexander Calder-inspired animal mobile and construct a model of a human cannonball. Make your very own clown hat, tie and nose, and create a pop-up paper circus that contains everything you’d hope to see under the Big Top!
Amusement Park Science ::: Rockin’ Rides!
Imagine the thrill of building an amusement park that makes you feel like you’re in an action movie. Learn important physics concepts like potential and kinetic energy, centrifugal force and Newton’s Laws of Motion, then put it all into practice! Teamwork and creative thinking will be part of the fun as you design a water ride with a waterfall drop, a looping roller coaster and a self-propelled car for a high-speed chase.
Star Outdoor Program ::: Junior Explorers
Campers participate in our outdoor curriculum every day. Participate daily in team-building games, craft activities and traditional Camp Galileo outdoor fun! Make new friends through playing all-camp games. Figure out innovative ways to move the Giant Ball across the circle and work with your teammates to travel along a Human Ladder. You can also get creative with Klutz crafts like Pipe Cleaners Gone Crazy and paper airplanes!
Psychedelic ‘60s & Space Explorers { one week }
Psychedelic ‘60s ::: My ‘60s
Become a groovy child of the 1960s! Fashion a ‘60s outfit by making a tie-dye t-shirt, decorating a bandana in the style of op artist Victor Vasarely and crafting colorful beads out of clay to make necklaces. You’ll also construct collages like Robert Rauschenberg, print self-portraits like Andy Warhol and make amazing polka dot art in the style of Yayoi Kusama.
Space Explorers ::: Mission to Outer Space
Learn about rocket fuels and propulsion, design a space ship, then blast off! When you’re ready to land on a faraway planet, build a landing device that withstands the drop from orbit to the surface. Upon landing, learn to use a robotic arm, then construct a rover that navigates the difficult terrain. As you travel through space, your mission is to determine the mystery location of our dear Rubber Chicken!

Ancient Egypt & Crime Solver Scientists { one week }
Ancient Egypt ::: Exploring The Temple of Karnak
Travel back in time to ancient Egypt! Begin by creating your own 3-D temple modeled after the Temple of Karnak. Learn all about Queen Hatshepsut, the famous female pharaoh, and build a statue of the queen or an obelisk like the ones built during her reign. Take part in an archaeological dig, and create an amulet with the treasures you find. The week’s other activities include painting yourself as a royal Egyptian and telling a family story by making an Egyptian register using oil pastels.
Crime Solver Scientists ::: Mystery of the Stolen Artifacts
Chicken Jameson is visiting the Temple of Karnak in Egypt, when he discovers a secret room where all the precious artifacts are missing! To investigate the crime and locate the stolen treasures, you’ll develop your own crime lab. Use your lab to identify finger and shoe prints, examine mystery powders and find the person who left a note behind using chromatography. Use your new understanding of acids and bases to discover who spilled a brown liquid and, finally, build a device which will help you recover the missing objects once and for all!
